Your Complete Christmas Cookie Baking Guide

Your Complete Christmas Cookie Baking Guide

Hi Reader,

Christmas cookie season is officially here, and this is honestly one of my favorite parts of the holidays. Between school parties, last minute gatherings, and cozy nights at home, having a go to lineup of easy and dependable cookie recipes always makes this season feel less chaotic and a lot more magical.

Today I am sharing all things Christmas cookies, from my favorite tried and true recipes to the cookie cutters that actually hold their shape and the simple tips that make every batch feel bakery level without adding more time to your already full day. Your kitchen is about to smell amazing!

My Favorite Christmas Cookies

Tips For Making The BEST Cookies

These small tips make a huge difference when you are juggling cookie sheets while keeping kids from eating half the dough.

  • Chill your dough. Even twenty to thirty minutes helps cookies keep their shape.
  • Use parchment paper. It prevents spreading and makes cleanup so much easier.
  • Swap butter for browned butter. If you have an extra few minutes, this adds the best nutty flavor.
  • Measure flour lightly. Spoon it into the cup and level it off for soft and tender cookies.
  • Decorate after cooling. Let cookies cool completely before icing or adding toppings to avoid melting and spreading.
  • Bake one sheet at a time. This gives more even browning and fewer surprises.

Make Ahead Tips

  • Freeze cookie dough balls. Arrange on a baking sheet until firm, then transfer to a bag and bake fresh anytime.
  • Freeze decorated cookies. Most iced cookies freeze well when stored in layers with parchment.
  • Make icing ahead. Royal icing and buttercream keep well in the refrigerator for several days.

My Favorite Cookie Making Tools

These cookie cutters are made with high-quality stainless steel and cut with nice, crisp edges. I love the cute Christmas theme!

These are high-grade and rust-proof. I love how easy the handles make them to use, creating quick, crisp edges.

I love these cookie stamps. They make decorating so fun and effortless. Just press them onto your pre cut cookies before baking, and you’ll have the perfect base for simple decorating and icing afterward.

This cookie scoop set comes with every size you could ever need. With 1, 2, and 3 tablespoon options, you are set for all your cookie baking.
